School CLOSED for remainder of the school year
Panhandle schools will be operating in an alternative learning environment for the remainder of the school year.
After consultation with COVID-19 Unified Command, it has been determined that all schools in the Nebraska Panhandle will remain closed and operate in an alternative learning environment for the remainder of the 2019/2020 school year. Traditional graduation ceremonies are not going to be possible this May. Schools will be working to determine appropriate alternative methods to honor the Class of 2020 in each community, whether that be a ceremony at a later date or some other locally determined alternative graduation that complies with the guidance of health officials
Dear CCS Families,
I’m sure this doesn’t come as a surprise after the recent positive tests for COVID-19 in the panhandle.
To say, “this is tough,” is the understatement of the year! As the mom of a 2020 Senior, I’m extremely saddened. My son, Riley, was supposed to open his Golf Season tomorrow… He will end his senior year with no DECA competitions, no career academy internship, no prom, no graduation… We were all so excited to celebrate these accomplishments as a family. This is not how a senior should finish high school.
As a principal, I miss the faces of CCS…the faces that bring me smiles every day! And, I know our staff feels the same! We have a tremendous responsibility to make sure that our students are prepared to move forward to the next grade level. Our curriculum is based on the Nebraska Standards, and we take ownership of that by planning strategically in order for kids to reach their end of year goals. We especially look forward to spring assessments, so that we can celebrate all of the progress they have made! When we’re unable to observe their work habits and progress each day, it’s frustrating. As we continue to offer online learning, we promise to deliver the best instruction possible for our eagles as they grow spiritually and academically.
We recognize that our entire CCS family is affected by this pandemic. We are all overwhelmed emotionally, physically, financially…We are worried about the health of our parents, grandparents, kids, other loved ones. You have had to create this “new normal” without knowing WHEN IT WILL EVER END!
During a time such as this, we cling to our faith. God has a plan. We serve a mighty Savior who is MUCH bigger than ANY pandemic! As we look back on this time in history, we will appreciate the lessons that the Lord taught us during this time. Please continue to pray for those that don’t know Him. And, let’s be a light to others so they CAN know Him. Take some time to BE STILL.
Thank you to the CCS Board, our amazing teachers, and fantastic families. All of you have been supportive, flexible, committed, willing and patient during this time of uncertainty! We will get through this together! I’ll be in touch soon with other details that I’m sure I’ve missed in this email…
In His Name,
CCS Principal & 5C Director
