Music, Library, and Computers
Hello! My name is Deanna Goranson and this is my sixth year at CCS where I teach K-6 music and beginning band, lead worship for chapel, and help in the library. I’m originally from central Nebraska and came to Scottsbluff to student teach after finishing classes at Nebraska Wesleyan University. I liked the community so much I never left! I met my husband, Nick, while working as a substitute for SBPS. He is a science teacher and coach at Scottsbluff High. Working at CCS has been such a blessing to me. I love having an amazing group of like-minded coworkers and being able to tell my kids just how loved they are! There is such peace in knowing you are exactly where you are supposed to be and doing what you were created to do.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education as well as Master of Arts in Elementary Administration from Chadron State College. I taught Kindergarten, First, Fourth & Fifth grades at Westmoor Elementary in Scottsbluff for sixteen years before joining Community Christian as the Principal in 2015. My husband, Jon, is a Science Teacher at Bluffs Middle School. We have three children, Riley, Landon, and Chloe. We are active members of our Church and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities and sports as a family. CCS has been such a blessing to my life! We have an amazing family of students, teachers, staff and families that bring me much joy! Our teachers not only teach using best practices, but they truly love the Lord! They honor him thru their gifts of teaching and are always looking to improve and offer the best education possible to their classes! Every staff member has a commitment to Christ and glorify him thru their various job assignments at school! Our students are a light to the community thru their service activities and their character… using our 5 Guiding Principles of Safety, Ownership, Attitude, Respect & Responsibility wherever they go! Our families are involved, interested and invested in their children’s education! They’re willing to participate in fundraisers, volunteer, and serve in a variety of ways at school! It’s a wonderful feeling to not only enjoy my job every day, but be surrounded by believers and continue to grow in my own faith as I follow the path in which God has laid out for me!
